A saint, a seer, a prophet, a reformer, a mystic, a philosopher; Guru Nanak Dev Ji called by all these names and many more.


Guru Nanak Dev Ji believed that there is only one God who can be reached by practicing any religion whether Hinduism, Christianity, Sikhism, Islam, etc.


Guru Nanak Dev Ji believed that all men were equal. He wanted man to live in a casteless and classless society, which can be considered similar to what is propounded by modern socialism

Guru Nanak Dev Ji believed that moral and righteous deeds were the stepping stones, as these alone were correct in God's eyes.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji believed that God was a unified being, with no form. Humans could become one with God by meditating on the name of God, purification, and spiritual purity achieving spiritual detachment. Guru Nanak Dev Ji stressed in his teachings that 
caste was irrelevant, and what mattered was the purity that came from inside.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings are usually practiced by his followers in three ways:

Naam Japna, is the chanting of God's name and remembering God at all times.

Kirat Karo, which is earning a living or making money honestly, without any exploitation or cheating.

Vand Chakko, or sharing with others and being charitable, especially towards the poor and needy.
