Famous music superstar Justin Bieber declares on Friday evening through a video on Instagram that he has been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome

He accepted that he is having Ramsay Hunt Syndrome which is from a virus that attacks the nerve in his ear and facial Nerve and causes facial paralysis on the right side.

He described some of the features of the syndrome in his clip: "As you can see, this eye is not blinking, I can't smile on this side of my face, this nostril will not move," he said, gesturing to the features that barely moved as he tried to blink and smile.

Ramsay Hunt Syndrome:

Ramsay Hunt Syndrome is also known as Hunt Syndrome and HERPES ZOSTER OTICUS.

It is a rare neurological disorder characterized by paralysis of the facial nerve. It is caused by varicella-zoster, the same virus which causes both chickenpox and shingles.

Clinical Manifestation:

It can cause the Rash or Herpetic Blisters on the affected side of the face. These can be painful with a generalized burning sensation.

Facial weakness or paralysis can also be experienced.

Loss of taste sensation on 2/3rd of the tongue

Hearing Loss and Vertigo in severe cases.


Depending upon the damage to the nerve the virus, the betterment can take a few weeks. Treatment options can include anti-inflammatory and antiviral medications such as prednisone, acyclovir, and valacyclovir.

At the end of his clip, JB looks positive and strong toward recovery.

"I'm gonna get better," he said. "I'm doing all these facial exercises to get my face back to normal. And it will go back to normal — it's just time. We don't know how much time it's gonna be, but it's gonna be OK."
